Week 9 kicked off with a fixture between the league leaders Lahore Tigers, and Kashmiri Panthers who were desperate for a win. Kashmiri Panthers won the toss and decided to make use of the new ball. Lahore Tigers openers batted with confidence and authority, scoring 43 off their 4 overs to give the Tigers a solid start. Things kept getting better for the Tigers with each partnership from there on, with the 2nd partnership scoring 48, third 52, forth 60 and the last partnership adding 62. The Panthers struggled to contain the Tigers who reached a mammoth total of 265 with the help of a brilliant 39 from Shaan Butt who joined Asif Butt on the wicket to put together a fiery 62. From the Panthers, Ahsan Maqbool and Mohammed Iyaz had joint best figures of 2 for 17.
In their chase the Panthers started losing wickets from the first over, courtesy of some supers bowling and fielding from the Tigers. Panthers struggled through their overs and reached a total of 129 after losing 19 wickets in their innings. The stand-out partnership 46 between Majid and Tayab. Ansur Mahmood had the best bowling figures from the Lahore Tigers. He took 4 wickets for minus 6. The man of the match award however went to Zeeshan Butt after his batting heroics and also chipping in with 3 wickets.
The 2nd match of the day was between Big Bite and Chesham Mobiles with Big Bite needing a win to stay in the race of winning the league, and that’s exactly what they did. Big Bite annihilated the Chesham Mobiles team with an incredible all round performance. Chesham Mobiles batted first and had a stable start with the first partnership stacking up 38 runs however, the other 4 partnerships only added 32 runs to the total averaging a very poor 8 runs per partnership. This was mostly due to some poor running between the wickets. Luqman Ahmed was their highest scorer with 24 runs and the best bowling figures came from Mubeen who took 3 for minus 9.
Big Bite had an easy target of 70 to chase down in 20 overs and Chesham Mobiles needed to bowl 20 good overs in order to defend their small score. In the end Big Bite chased down this total with ease making the 2nd game of the day one-sided too. Big Bite scored 210 in their allocated overs with the help of a nice knock of 37 from Adris Ahmed who also was the man of the match for this game. Chesham Mobiles had some very average bowling performances with Abbas producing the best figures of 1 for 5.
