Big Bite Chesham vs Kashmiri Panthers



Big Bite and Kashmiri Panthers went head to head in their first encounter of the 2016 T20 Indoor League championship in the opening game of Game week 5. The Panthers won the toss and opted to bowl first and started off strongly just conceding 26 off the first partnership, but were pegged back and Big Bite scored 97 off the following two partnerships taking the score up to 123. 

The fourth partnership was again restricted by the Panthers bowling who only managed 26, but the best was left to the last partnership who smoked 59 taking the score up to 211 a good total to defend. Tajjamal Hussain pick of the batsman smashing 44 to all parts which resulted in being the best individual score for any player so far this season. Tayyab Ilyas had the best bowling figures of 2 for 8 for the Panthers. 

In reply panthers never really got going with only two of their partnership managing over 10 runs. The second partnership was the highest scoring managing 38 and the final pair also scoring 30 runs. The remaining three pairs only managed 26 between them all. Panthers were thrashed by 117 runs which was the highest win margin so far this year. Abrar Khan top scored for the Panthers with 23 whereas Suliaman Ahmed was the stand out bowler for Big Bite with figures of 4 for -9. Man of the Match went to Saffy of Big Bite for scoring 23 runs and bowling figures of 3 for -4.



Punjabi Lions vs Chesham Mobiles


The following game featured two of the losing teams from the previous week. Nabeel Ahmed’s Punjabi Lions went face to face with Zahid Mehmood’s Chesham Mobiles. Punjabi Lions were sent into bat first by Chesham Mobiles skipper. Punjabi Lions started off strongly scoring 44 off the first partnership but only to be restricted to 18 in the following partnership. However, the following two partnerships both achieved 44 runs each which had taken the score to 150 only for the last pair to come in and smash 47 and taking the score to 197 just shy of the 200 barrier which has only been achieved five times this year. 

Nabeel Ahmed was the top scorer for Punjabi Lions with 32 and youngster Raheem was pick of the bowlers with 3-5. Although Chesham Mobiles started off with a fair opening stand of 29 they never got going after this after only managing to post a score of 45 in their 20 overs. Punjabi Lions came out trump annihilating Chesham Mobiles by 152 runs. Big Bite were only able to keep the to keep the credentials of highest win margin for a couple hours only for Punjabi Lions to take it from them. 

Adnan was top scorer for Chesham Mobiles with 22 and Lewis Thompson pick of the bowlers with highest individual bowling figures so far of 6 for -8. Captain Nabeel Ahmed was Man of the Match for Punjabi Lions for his 32 and figures of 4 for -3.



Lahore Tigers vs London Lions



The final game of Game Week 5 featured league leaders Lahore Tigers and London Lions which turned out to be fierce competition between the two sides. Lahore Tigers won the toss and chose to bowl first. London Lions started off on the front foot scoring 65 off the opening two partnerships and just seemed to get stronger as the game got on. They managed to reach 136 by the end of the fourth partnership but the best was left to last and the final pair managed to score a very good 59 between them and taking the score to 195 which was a very good total to defend against the league leaders. 

Hassan Taj top scored for London Lions with an impressive 28 and Imran Ishaq was the pick of the bowlers for the Tigers with figures of 3-3. In reply Lahore Tigers came out in an aggressive mood and a mind set to take it to the bowlers which resulted in the opening pair scoring a decent 52 to put London Lions on the back foot to start off with. 

Only for the London Lions to bounce back and restrict the Tigers 144 at the end of the fourth partnership. Leaving the final pair to get 52 to lead but due to some excellent bowling and fielding by the London Lions they restricted the final pair to 19 which resulted in the London Lions winning by 32 runs and ending the Tigers unbeaten run. Safeer Butt was the stand out batsmen for the Tigers with 22 whereas Arslan Kayani was the top bowler for London Lions with figures of 3 for -8. Man of the Match went to London Lions Usman Farooqui for scoring 9 runs and bowling figures of 2-1.
