The season 3 of ILT20 campaign is well on the way now, with some mouth-watering games. Game week 3 begun with Kashmiri Panthers taking on the only current unbeaten side in the league Lahore Tigers. Kashmiri Panthers won the toss and elected to bowl with their strong bowling unit.
The opening partnership in Tanvir Butt and Ali Butt gave the Lahore Tigers a brilliant start with some aggressive yet effective batting, posting 47 in the first pair. However, the Panthers bowlers brought the game back in the balance conceding just 5 runs in the second pair and taking 6 crucial wickets. Another low scoring partnership in the 3rd pair looked to be taking the game to Kashmiri Panthers benefit scoring just 19 runs in their partnership. However, the inform Mohammad Waqar came to the crease to launch the bowlers in all corners and with skipper Safeer Butt put on a well needed 63 runs taking the score to 134. Yet again the Panthers brought it back with a decent quartet of bowling and restricting the final partnership to just 9 runs due to a last ball double wicket, courtesy of skipper and spearhead bowler of the Panthers Ahsan Maqbool. Mohammed Waqar was the pick of the bowlers with 39 off his 10 balls, and Waqar was pick of the bowlers with 4 for -7.
In reply, the Panthers started in similar fashion scoring at
a high rate of knots and posting 44 runs in the first partnership. By the end
of the second partnership Kashmiri Panthers looked well on their way to
breaking Lahore Tiger’s unbeaten streak by reaching 79 runs in their first 8
overs and thus being more than half way over the line. However, there looked to
be a twist with some brilliant bowling, fielding and some terrible shot
selection from Kashmiri Panthers resulted in them having a downfall. The
following 2 partnerships managed just -2 runs between them where the Tigers
picked up 11 wickets. Leaving the final pair to manage to score almost 70 runs
against the fierce bowling attach of the Tigers. The panthers only managed to
score 16 runs due to another double ball wicket. Ahsan Maqbool was pick of the
bowlers with 35 runs off 11 balls and yet again Mohammed Waqar was the pick of
the bowlers for Lahore Tigers with 4 for -15.
Lahore Tigers came out victourious keeping their winning
streak alive winning by 50 runs. Mohammed Waqar was Man of the Match with
masterclass all round performance scoring 39 runs and bowling figures of 4 for
The final game of the week consisted of the much-changed sides for the season Big Bite and Chesham Mobiles. The toss was won by the Big Bite skipper Wajid Hussain who chose to bat first.
Big Bite were given a healthy and respectable start scoring
38 runs and conceding just one wicket with the new ball which we all know can
do some damage with the sheer swing and bounce it can generate. However the
following 2 partnerships were only able to put on 34 runs taking the score to
72 runs, leaving a huge ask for the Big Bite contingent to post a mammoth
score. But it was not to be getting much better with the final pair failing to
do much to the scorecard, in fact scoring -5 and taking the score lower. Wajid
Hussain and Munib Fiaz put up a fighting performance and scored 41 runs in
their 4 overs which posted 108 runs on the scorecard. Wasim Tariq was pick of
the bowlers with 21 runs and Husnain was pick of the bowlers with 4 for 0.
Chesham Mobiled opening pair Luqman and Rohinn went out all
guns blazing scoring at a ridiculous rate and giving their next 4 partnerships
room for error. They posted a mighty 88 runs and leaving an average of 5.25
runs to be scored between the next 4 partnerships to take the lead. The
following 3 partnerships had taken the lead for Chesham Mobiles by a
considerate amount scoring 72 runs between them taking the total to 160 runs.
This meant it would take a miracle for Big Bite to win this thrilling
encounter. The final pair did however put on 29 runs and despite conceding 5
wickets manage to take their team home posting a final score of 189. Rohinn was
pick of the bowlers with 44 runs off 12 balls and new boy for Big Bite Intikhab
Mazeez was pick of the bowlers with 4 for -5.
Chesham Mobiles came out victorious winning by 81 runs. Man
of the Match was Luqman for his 40 runa in 12 balls and bowling figures of 3
